Mike and I went by car (he drove), Catherine flew up. Rare that the three of us are in the same place at the same time, so I was very happy for the 3 days we were there.
Montreal is a very very nice city to visit (though the streets and sidewalks are under major construction projects, getting ready for 2026 World Cup events). The people are friendly and speak French and English fluently, so language is not a barrier. Cafes and small shops and restaurants fill the city. There is much outdoor seating and many "pedestrian only" streets (cobblestoned !), copied after the European lifestyle.
Our room was on the 21st floor in the heart of the city.

We were wondering exactly what is going on here with hundreds of people all dressed in white eating dinner in a public square at what was obviously a invite-only event.

"Diner en Blanc ("Dinner in White" in French) is a worldwide event spanning six continents in which people dressed in white have a meal in a temporary dining setup in a public space. Diners are required to provide their own food, tables, chairs and tablecloths. The location of the event is kept secret from the majority of participants until minutes before the event, at which point all attendees generally converge in an iconic urban location. "

Mike and I left hours before Catherine's flight, so she wandered around on her own and sent us some pictures.
